How it works

From drive-through to documented record in 90 seconds

CarEye captures, processes, and documents every vehicle handover. Vehicles drive through at normal speed. Your team reviews findings. The full record is time-stamped and accessible.
Four stages, one continuous process

How a single handover flows through CarEye

Each stage takes seconds. The full record is created automatically.

1

Document condition at departure

When a customer collects a vehicle, the car drives through the CarEye gate at normal speed. Structured-light bars illuminate the vehicle's surfaces. High-resolution cameras capture the exterior of the car. Total time at the gate: roughly three seconds. The customer doesn't stop. The pickup record is created and timestamped automatically.
2

Compare condition on arrival

When the same vehicle returns, it passes through the same gate (or any other CarEye gate in your operation). The system performs a second full capture, then compares the return imagery against the pickup record from the same vehicle. New damage candidates are flagged automatically.
3

AI identifies and documents changes

If enabled, the AI runs on the new return imagery to identify potential damage — scratches, dents, missing parts. Each finding is logged with location, time, and severity estimate - presented in 90 seconds.
4

Review and resolve with confidence

Flagged findings appear in your team's review queue. They confirm each finding, dismiss false positives, or escalate to the customer. No charge reaches a customer without a human in the loop.
The hardware

Built for outdoor and indoor operation at airport scale

The CarEye gate is a free-standing inspection structure designed for continuous operation. Each gate is engineered for the throughput and uptime demands of major airport rental sites.

Hardware includes structured-light arrays on both sides of the vehicle path, a high-resolution camera array capturing the full vehicle envelope, an IP55 enclosure for European and US climate ranges, and standard rental site infrastructure for power and network. No stopping or slowing down required.

The software

A closed system, built for your operations team

CarEye software runs three core functions: image processing and AI flagging happen automatically on every scan, a review interface lets your team confirm or dismiss findings, and records and reporting keep every handover searchable and exportable.

CarEye software is a closed system. Your data isn't used for any purpose other than continuously improving our own AI models. No customer or vehicle data is shared or sold to third parties.

CarEye software is built for shared locations. Data is only made accessible to subscribing tenants based on customer fleet lists — your data is visible only to you, and kept strictly separate from all other tenants.

API-first. Stand-alone if you need it

CarEye is built API-first. We can integrate with most rental management systems in 4–8 weeks, depending on the complexity of your existing stack. If integration isn't on your roadmap right now, CarEye also runs as a stand-alone system.

Integrated mode

Designed for high-volume rental businesses, CarEye® automates pickup and return documentation and enables real-time data transfer to your backend.

Stand-alone mode

Your team accesses everything through our own interface. No integration work required to launch. Production-ready in a fraction of the time.

The most important thing is happy customers!

For Munich Airport, the new car scanners are a big step towards an even better customer experience. Time-consuming checks of the rental car and possible conflicts about damage are no longer necessary. This makes car rental from us faster on the one hand and more relaxed on the other.

Peter BayerHead of Services and Parking Munich Airport

The system has significantly improved decision-making and damage assessment efficiency, greatly enhancing our prior setup. The video feature is especially beneficial, allowing for uninterrupted customer flow as images are captured on the move, contrasting with systems that require stopping for image capture.

Shamir EbrahimNational Car Parks (EUK) Ltd

CarEye's advanced technology allows us to conduct thorough inspections quickly and accurately, ensuring that every vehicle meets the highest standards before returning to the rental fleet. This has not only improved the overall turnaround time for rental vehicles but has also enhanced the overall customer experience.

When we quickly remove one of the biggest uncertainties when renting a car, I am both proud and incredibly happy. SIXT Denmark has now got our first damage scanner in operation and the cars are photographed both on collection and delivery. Stop worrying about being billed for damage you didn't do. Full security and transparency!

Excited to share the first results of our full contactless solution launched at Vilnius Airport August 2025: Damage revenue increased 202 % while NPS increased 33 % in the same period.

As we see great potential in automated damage detection, we evaluated all available technologies during 2021. Our opinion is that Wenn provides the best alternative and we are very pleased to have entered into a strategic alliance with Wenn.
