Creating trust and transparency in car handovers

Wenn develops AI-powered vehicle inspection technology that helps mobility operators create consistent, transparent, and defensible handover records — at scale, in real environments, without stopping the car.

Why we exist

Every car handover is a moment of trust

Every car handover is a small act of trust. One party says the vehicle is in a certain condition. The other accepts it. When that moment is undocumented, everything that follows depends on memory, goodwill, and whoever argues more convincingly.

That works — until it doesn't. A scratch appears that neither side can place. A dent is disputed. A customer is charged and pushes back. An operator absorbs a loss because the evidence isn't there. These aren't edge cases. They're the predictable consequence of a process that has never had a reliable record at its centre.

The deeper problem is that inconsistency is structural. Documentation quality varies by site, by shift, by how busy the operation is that day. The vehicle that gets a careful check at 9am gets a rushed one at peak. And when something is disputed later, neither side has what they need to resolve it fairly.

Wenn exists because that's a solvable problem. Objective, automatic documentation — at every handover, regardless of volume or staffing — changes the dynamic entirely. Operators get a defensible record. Customers get transparency. And disputed damage gets resolved by evidence rather than by attrition.

That's what CarEye is built to provide.

What makes us different

Not a camera system. Not a software layer. Both, integrated.

Three things set Wenn apart from alternatives — and they're all deliberate choices, not accidents of the technology.

1

We own the full stack — gate to decision

CarEye is a purpose-built system: structured-light hardware, high-resolution cameras, and AI models trained on millions of vehicle images — all developed and owned by Wenn. We're not a software layer on top of commodity cameras. That integration is why results are consistent across weather, lighting, and vehicle types that defeat generic solutions.
2

Designed for outdoor, high-volume, 24/7 operation

CarEye gates run in car parks and rental lots across Europe and the US — not in controlled lab conditions. IP55 enclosures handle Norwegian winters and southern summers. A single gate processes up to 600 vehicles per hour. The system doesn't require stopping, slowing, or any change to how customers and staff move through the site.
3

AI documents. People decide.

We don't auto-charge customers based on AI output. Every flagged finding goes to a human reviewer before anything reaches the customer. This isn't a regulatory hedge — it's a deliberate philosophy. AI is good at scale and consistency. People are good at judgment and context. The right system uses both, and keeps them in the right roles.

Deployed and running in the real world

CarEye has been in continuous production operation since 2019 — not in pilot, not in proof-of-concept.

Where we're headed

The future of vehicle operations is documented

We believe vehicle operations will increasingly move toward objective, automated documentation — not because regulators will require it, but because operators who have it outperform those who don't. Damage recovery improves. Disputes resolve faster. Customer trust compounds over time when people know the record is real.

Wenn's job is to build the infrastructure that makes that transition practical: hardware that works in the real world, AI that handles scale, and processes that keep humans in control of the decisions that matter. We're not building toward a world where AI charges your customer. We're building toward a world where no one ever has to argue about what the car looked like.

API-first. Stand-alone if you need it

CarEye is built API-first. We can integrate with most rental management systems in 4–8 weeks, depending on the complexity of your existing stack. If integration isn't on your roadmap right now, CarEye also runs as a stand-alone system.

Integrated mode

Designed for high-volume rental businesses, CarEye® automates pickup and return documentation and enables real-time data transfer to your backend.

Stand-alone mode

Your team accesses everything through our own interface. No integration work required to launch. Production-ready in a fraction of the time.

The most important thing is happy customers!

For Munich Airport, the new car scanners are a big step towards an even better customer experience. Time-consuming checks of the rental car and possible conflicts about damage are no longer necessary. This makes car rental from us faster on the one hand and more relaxed on the other.

Peter BayerHead of Services and Parking Munich Airport

The system has significantly improved decision-making and damage assessment efficiency, greatly enhancing our prior setup. The video feature is especially beneficial, allowing for uninterrupted customer flow as images are captured on the move, contrasting with systems that require stopping for image capture.

Shamir EbrahimNational Car Parks (EUK) Ltd

CarEye's advanced technology allows us to conduct thorough inspections quickly and accurately, ensuring that every vehicle meets the highest standards before returning to the rental fleet. This has not only improved the overall turnaround time for rental vehicles but has also enhanced the overall customer experience.

When we quickly remove one of the biggest uncertainties when renting a car, I am both proud and incredibly happy. SIXT Denmark has now got our first damage scanner in operation and the cars are photographed both on collection and delivery. Stop worrying about being billed for damage you didn't do. Full security and transparency!

Christina CarpensCountry Manager Sixt DK

Excited to share the first results of our full contactless solution launched at Vilnius Airport August 2025: Damage revenue increased 202 % while NPS increased 33 % in the same period.

Andrius KuktaCOO Hertz Baltics

As we see great potential in automated damage detection, we evaluated all available technologies during 2021. Our opinion is that Wenn provides the best alternative and we are very pleased to have entered into a strategic alliance with Wenn.
